Creating A Home Away From Home Is Our Goal For Our Military Family Guests
Making a "house a home" for our military families means their stay at the Houston Fisher Houses will be comfortable in every way. By supporting our guests, we are supporting their loved ones - veterans and active military - who are hospitalized at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. There is never any cost to stay at a Fisher House. Whether it is a short stay or an extended stay, a hospitalized military patient can be comforted by knowing they have the emotional support of a friend or family member nearby.
Fisher House Friends of Houston underwrites goods and services to support our guests. Our donations have ranged from an air conditioned golf cart (to transport our guests to the VA Medical Center) to purchasing and replacing all of the mattresses in 21 guest suites at a Fisher House, as well as landscaping House lawns and picnic areas, ride share gift cards, meals and groceries, just to name a few. We have also just earned a 2022 Gold Seal of Transparency from Candid, reinforcing the trust and confidence you can have when you make a donation. With your help, we remain committed to our Fisher House guests by providing them with the amenities and contributions that make the difference in their stay.
